10 Digit Dialing Configuration (Macintosh - Remote Access)

  1. From the top left corner of your desktop, click on the apple picture, select "Control Panels" and then click on "Remote Access".
  2. A new window will open:

In the above image, the phone number "2082828" is shown as an example. This is not necessarily your CityNet dial-up number. Likewise, the "Name" box will contain your CityNet username rather than the one above and should be left unchanged.

  3. If you do not see "Name," "Password" and "Number" information, click on the triangle next to "Setup".
  4. Next to "Number," you will see the number your computer uses to connect to the Internet. Make a note of this number and its area code.
  5. Click in the "Number" box and clear the contents using your backspace key.
  6. If you need to dial "9" to make out going calls, first enter "9,," into the "Number" box (without the quotes).
  7. If you have call waiting, next enter "*70," into the "Number" box (without the quotes).
  8. Using the phone number you discovered in Step 4, enter the area code followed by the seven digit phone number your computer uses to call CityNet. There is no need to use hyphens, spaces, parenthesis, or any other notation. If you are not sure which area code or phone number your computer uses to call CityNet, refer to the following list:
