10 Digit Dialing Configuration (Windows NT)
Normally, the phonebook entry you use to connect to CityNet will already be listed in the "Phonebook entry to dial" box. To select a different phonebook entry, left click on the little black triangle located to the right of the entry name. (If you are uncertain which icon represents your connection to CityNet, click here) Left click "More" and select "Edit entry and modem properties..." with another left click. A new window will appear. Left click the "Basic" tab if that page is not already displayed.
In the above image, the phone number "208-2828" is shown as an example. This is not necessarily your CityNet dial-up number. Likewise, the "Dial using" box will show the name of your modem rather than the one above and should be left unchanged. Next to "Phone number" you should see the phone number that your computer dials to get on the Internet. Make a note of this number and its area code. Uncheck the little white box next to "Use Telephony dialing properties". Left click the "Alternates..." button. In the new window that appears, click in the "New phone number" box and clear the contents using your backspace key. If you need to dial "9" to make out going calls, first enter "9,," into the "New phone number" box (without the quotes). If you have call waiting, enter "*70," into the "New phone number" box (without the quotes). Using the phone number you discovered in Step 7, enter the area code followed by the seven digit phone number your computer uses to call CityNet. There is no need to use hyphens, spaces, parenthesis, or any other notation. If you are not sure which number your computer uses to call CityNet, refer to the following list:
If you would like to see some examples, click here. Click the "Replace" button, then click the "OK" button to return to the previous window. ![]() Click "OK" at the bottom of the window. Close any open windows. That's it! Continue to connect to the Internet as you always have.
